We look forward to welcoming you to IMRF 2025 in Durham, UK!
Durham is a charming university city in the Northeast of England, known for its stunning medieval architecture and rich history. With a population of around 50,000, it is home to the stunning Durham Cathedral and Castle, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The cathedral, with its Norman architecture, is considered one of the finest in Europe. It also houses the third oldest University in England: Durham University.
The city has a vibrant history, with roots dating back to the 7th century. Its unique blend of medieval and modern influences gives it a distinct character. The cobbled streets and scenic riverbanks of the River Wear, which winds through the city, provide picturesque views and lovely walking paths. The surrounding countryside, including the nearby Durham Dales, offers stunning landscapes for outdoor enthusiasts.
Durham hosts a range of festivals throughout the year, including the Durham Book Festival and the Brass Festival, celebrating literature, music, and the arts. Also, events like the Durham Miners' Gala (Saturday 12 July 2025), which celebrates the city’s industrial heritage and brings locals together with a long parade of banners, will take place just before the conference.
