 Pre conference Social (optional)

For anyone wondering what to do the evening before IMRF there will be a social gathering at the Head of Steam (pub) on Monday 14th July from 8 pm. Look out for people wearing IMRF t-shirts!

Social Dinner (optional)

The social dinner will take place on evening of Thursday 17th July at the Durham Castle. The bar will open from 18.30, arrival for dinner will be at 19.00.

The cost of the dinner is £50 and should be paid when registering. Note that due to spacing there are limited number of places at the social dinner.

Excursions:

Durham Cathedral tour (optional)

This will take place on Wednesday 16th (likely at 18.30), and will cost £17 per visitor. Payment is through the registration website.

Castle tour (optional)

There will be a self-guided tour of the Durham Castle (site of the social dinner) on Friday 18th July at 14.30. 

Beamish visit (optional)

An optional afternoon excursion to Beamish on Friday 18th (after the end of the converence) with return time at 5.30pm. Registration (£20 bookable though registration website) includes ticket and transportation from Durham.

Experience historical England in this famous Open Air museum near Durham. 

All attendees will also get a ticket to visit the Durham University Botanic gardens.

Durham BRASS festival

The conference partly overlaps with the Durham BRASS festival which 'celebrates brass music in all its forms, blending genres in a dynamic eight-day festival across County Durham.' (13-20 July)

Durham Miners Gala

On Saturday 12 July (the weekend before the conference) Durham City will be extremely busy with the Miners Gala, a celebration of mining heritage and worker's union collectivism. The streets will be packed!

Durham City Run

While the conference dinner is taking place at the Durham castle, over 2000 runners will be finishing just outside! The Durham City run takes place on the evening of 17th July, while the Families On Track run is on the 19th.
