Social Dinner (optional)

The social dinner will take place on Thursday 17th July from 20:00 at the Durham Castle.

The cost of the dinner is £50 and should be paid when registering. Note that due to spacing there are limited number of places at the social dinner.

Excursions:

Durham Cathedral tour (optional)

This will take place on Wednesday 16th (likely at 18.30), and will cost £17 per visitor. Payment is through the registration website.

Beamish visit (optional)

An optional afternoon excursion to Beamish on Friday 18th (after the end of the converence) with return time at 5.30pm. Registration (£20 bookable though registration website) includes ticket and transportation from Durham.

Experience historical England in this famous Open Air museum near Durham.

If there is interest we may also add a tour of the Durham University Botanic gardens.

The conference partly overlaps with the Durham BRASS festival which 'celebrates brass music in all its forms, blending genres in a dynamic eight-day festival across County Durham.' (13-20 July)

Durham Miners Gala

On Saturday 12 July (the weekend before the conference) Durham City will be extremely busy with the Miners Gala, a celebration of mining heritage and worker's union collectivism. The streets will be packed!
